Whole Home Renovations for a luxurious, modern feel
In this renovation project, we worked closely with designer Tami Grace VanDyke to transform the client’s great room, kitchen, second floor walkway, mudroom, and powder room to bring a luxurious, modern feel to the original layout.
The homeowners had a vision for their vaulted great room ceiling. Originally drywall, we paneled it with stained white oak and Forwell Electric Inc. added pot lights and a ceiling fan. White oak is carried throughout the renovation from the stair railing to the kitchen and mudroom cabinetry, and ties in with the luxury vinyl flooring.
A large piece of art in the great room is actually a hidden door to the homeowner’s bedroom. This door was custom made to fit that particular piece of art, which the clients already owned. A second hidden door was added to the right of the fireplace, which conceals the furnace room.
The second floor walkway was opened up and a heavy-duty engineered glass receiver channel was built into the walkway edge in order to implement the clean line glass railing with wood handrail. The white oak handrail, a joint effort between Menno and Scheerer Stair Co., seamlessly joins the wood together with the glass and contours of the stairway to create a natural flow.
Another hidden pocket door was installed in the kitchen, leading to the mudroom/powder room. This room was a bit of a challenge with a tight footprint, and only minor wall adjustments were made to incorporate the cubby section. The homeowners wanted a large sink in the powder room, so we opted for a wall faucet system with a sprayer to make the most of the small space.
We worked with many skilled partners on this beautiful renovation project including:
As well as Watermarks Kitchen & Bath Boutique, Glenbriar Plumbing, Scheerer Stair Co., and Brody Enterprises.
