As part of our 75th year in business, the Menno S. Martin team has been our in the community doing random acts of kindness (RAK) and we have committed to donating $500 on behalf of each of our staff to their favourite charities throughout 2017.
The theme for our 75th year in business is Putting People First and we continue to do just that! Here are a few of the most recent activities.
Giving Back To Family
Jeff’s sister has always been a vibrant and active woman. Since she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease ten years ago, her walking ability has depleted and her speech is laboured and jumbled at times.
Today, she continues to fight against this disease and now participates in the Rock Steady Boxing group in the Niagara Region. The non-contact, boxing inspired class can help enhance the quality of life and even build strength, flexibility and speed! By exercising with coaches who know the ropes, Parkinson’s sufferers can fight their way out of the corner and start to feel and function better. Jeff wants to help his sisters fight against Parkinson’s by choosing this charity to give back to as part of our community donations for our 75th Anniversary.
Construction Crews Are People Too!
Mark and Jeremy decided to combine their efforts to show appreciation to a group of people who don’t get a lot in their daily job.
On two separate occasions they brought cold drinks and breakfast sandwiches to the Steed and Evans road construction crew in St. Jacobs. This was a fun way to appreciate those contributing back to the community we live in.
Construction can be a hassle, and the crews are out there working hard in the elements and hear a lot of negative feedback, so this was a nice way to brighten their day.
