\"Basement<\/a>If you\u2019re thinking about doing a basement renovation in your home, you\u2019ve probably envisioned what purpose your new space will have. If your family has grown, maybe you\u2019ve considered adding additional bedrooms or a bathroom in the basement. Or maybe you\u2019ve become an empty nester and you\u2019re wondering how you can repurpose all that extra basement bedroom space! Our latest blog post shares some unique basement ideas that are a little different from the usual suggestions that pertain to extra bedroom space or added storage.<\/p>\n

Home theatre<\/strong>. If you and your family is serious about movie-watching, why not build a dedicated space to do so in your basement? You\u2019ll be able to ensure the room is optimized for surround sound and even install a wet bar that serves as a mid-movie snack station. Plus the best part of completing your home theatre is picking the comfiest couches and reclining chairs imaginable \u2013 along with the right digital projector!<\/p>\n

Modern laundry room<\/strong>. We don\u2019t mean your average laundry room that\u2019s filled with a washer, dryer and utility sink. What if your laundry room was filled with dark wood cabinets, a collapsible folding table and the machines were hidden from sight? A modern laundry room can be clean, bright and contemporary, complete with storage space to keep sports gear and winter accessories in one, organized spot.<\/p>\n

Home office.<\/strong> If you work from home or want a dedicated space for homework to be done, having a home office in the basement eliminates a lot of distractions that arise from having a home office on the main floor of the home. A custom-built home office can include things like a built-in desk, custom designed cabinets to store your files and other supplies. Frosted French doors can also add privacy without a closed in feeling.<\/p>\n

Updated rec room.<\/strong> If you have a big space to work with, a modern basement rec room is a great use of space that everyone in the family can enjoy. Consider installing a custom bar, complete with shelves for liquor bottles and contemporary-looking bar stools for when guests are over. A pool table or ping pong table makes a great accompaniment to the space, and if there\u2019s room, a sitting area complete with couches and TV is the perfect spot to watch the game!<\/p>\n

Music room<\/strong>. If you need a distraction-free and specific place to practice music, building a sound-proofed music room is a great idea for anyone learning to play an instrument. Alternately, you could create a cozy space centred around the instrument, such as a piano, making this the perfect retreat for guests to enjoy some music and relax.<\/p>\n

Wine cellar.<\/strong> Even if you don\u2019t have a lot of square footage to work with, a wine cellar can be a perfect use of extra space that you aren\u2019t sure what to do with. Custom-built shelves can house bottles of wine and can even be installed behind glass or locking cabinets for extra security. If you have the extra space, consider installing a high table with two stools to enjoy those first sips of wine.<\/p>\n
